Mr John Mott - Chairman
John graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Bendigo Institute of Technology in 1973. His career in the industrial refrigeration industry using ammonia, has spanned 45 years, the last 20 years of which John was General Manager and CEO of Gordon Brothers, Australia’s pre-eminent ammonia refrigeration manufacturer and contractor.
John has been involved with the US based Ammonia Safety & Training Institute (ASTI) since 1987 and has been a board member since 2014. He has been involved with the Ammonia Energy Association since 2012 and has been the Chair of AEA Australia since 2017. John currently serves as Chairman of GESCA Pty Ltd.

Mr Nino Ficca - Director
Non-Executive Director and Energy Industry Advisor (2020)
Nino has almost 40 years’ experience in the energy industry having recently retired from his role as Managing Director of AusNet Services (ASX:AST), a role he held for over 14 years. He currently serves as Non-Executive Director of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), Transurban Queensland (TQ) and GESCA Pty Ltd. He is also a member of Deakin University Engineering Advisory Board.
He is also serving as Professor of Industry Engagement for Deakin University.
Nino is a previous director and the Chair of Energy Networks Australia. He was also formerly the Deputy Chairman and a director of the Energy Supply Association of Australia and Chair of CIGRE Australia.
Nino holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a graduate diploma in management from Deakin University. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. He is a fellow of Engineers Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mr Brett Cooper - Director
Brett graduated from Monash University in 1977 with honours degrees in Economics and Law. Following graduation and working in the legal profession in London Brett returned to Australia in 1980 and has since worked continuously in the infrastructure and financing industry via his family consulting company Institutional Developments Pty Ltd (IDL).
His work with IDL lead to him being one the founders of the International Parking Group a specialised investment and management group involved in the funding and operation of car parks attached to Australian public hospitals.
Brett’s infrastructure funding roles also involved him in establishing regional infrastructure projects including state of the art Sale Yards for the marketing of sheep and cattle in regional Australia.
In more recent times Brett’s focus has been on developing the funding strategies and commercial relationships required for building Australia’s emerging renewable energy export industry using hydrogen and ammonia as the energy carrier.
Brett joined John Mott as one of the founders and members of the organising committee for the Ammonia Energy Association (AEA) Australia. He currently serves as a Director of GESCA Pty Ltd.
